First time I went, the dental hygienist scraped my teeth with a metal pick for a “cleaning” and told me a horrific story about her children accidentally hurting her hamster (through neglect) and her leaving it to die a painful death because she didn’t want to take it to a vet in a snow storm while she worked on my teeth. It was a traumatic story to listen to and bad service.Second time I went, they told me I had multiple fillings that needed to be redone and started booking me in for them. I believed them and started going in and ran through my insurance very quickly… today I went to a new clinic that told me I had not a single cavity or filling that needed to be redone after taking complete x-rays.Last time I went, I called because I was experiencing some minimal teeth pain and wanted to book an appointment to get it checked out. They booked me in for a next day appointment and charged my insurance for an “emergency visit” which took up $600 out of my limited insurance without telling me. I only know this cause I checked my insurance a few weeks after. It was definitely not an emergency visit - just a check that could’ve waited as long as needed. Not once did they tell me they were going to charge me for an emergency visit.I feel like there were many questionable practises that occurred during my couple months of going to this clinic. The receptionists and dentists were not bad though. I would caution anyone to be careful when going to this clinic.

**2 year update**Turns out the charm was only in the first visit, my teeth have never been worse than now. I was sent for a root canal fix last year which never was fixed correctly and I now have to do it for a third time. Then I was told to do a cavity on teeth that never felt any pain and was told it could turn into a root canal which they for sure turned into a root canal I've never been in so much pain than now. During the cavity my chest was used as a tray table for tools and I now have severe pain and sensitivity on both sides of my mouth to hot and cold which I've never had before. I had at the time opted to get a mouth guard and took time off work for an appointment as they said I needed 15-20 minutes for the session. They sent multiple confirmation messages and upon arrival, I waited 16 minutes for my appointment to start only to be told the nurse forgot my mouth guard when she came, yet no one thought to call me and update me. That was November 19th, it is Dec 22 and I've got no mouth guard and no one has reached out since. They called the day of at the end of the day and left a voicemail for "compensation" yet I don't know what that means from any dental office and they never reached out again. The one dentist I dealt with last year I have not seen since and she was the only one who started the appointment on time and cared to not drill into teeth that didn't need it. They also wanted to "redo" cavities that don't need doing after a consultation elsewhere I was told it was not to be done as it makes the tooth worse. So seems like it's a cash grab at the detriment of my teeth. Thanks for making it incredibly hard to eat now. Additionally my ex went there for a cleaning and they told him to come for two appointments because there was "too much to clean" yet he's been to many dentists regularly and has had no problem.

      Our Convenient Milton ON Location

      FAQ

      Most frequent questions and answers

Absolutely. We enjoy creating gorgeous, healthy smiles for patients of any age. If we find that your child – or you, for that matter – would benefit from seeing a specialist, we’ll refer to a trusted colleague. Some children deal with dental appointments better at a pedodontist’s office – that’s what a children’s dentist is called. We also refer patients who have extensive dental problems to a specialist for optimal care. As a general dentist office in Milton and Scarborough, our preventive, restorative, prosthetic, and cosmetic dental services include treatments suitable for patients of all ages. Dr. Naqvi also has experience with endodontic therapy, including root canals, and prefers to treat most cases in house.

We want to see your child when they have teeth! Most children respond well to a dental visit around age three, though the CDA recommends children have a first visit at one year of age. Bring your child with you to your appointment so that he or she can become acclimated to the dentist’s office. If you notice any development problems with your child’s mouth or teeth, call us to schedule a visit immediately. Otherwise, we’d like to begin teaching your children how to care for their teeth and gums when they reach three or four years of age. By age four or five, they can begin hygiene treatments and regular checkups.

Cosmetic dentistry is not a specialty recognized by the Canadian Dental Association, so any general dentist can claim to be a cosmetic dentist. To choose a good cosmetic dentist, review the doctor’s before-and-after photos of actual cases, ask about his or her postgraduate education in cosmetic dentistry, and make sure that you feel confident and comfortable in the office.

That sounds like an easy question to answer, but it isn’t! Your smile is unique, and we won’t compromise your individuality with smile enhancements. Smile design dentistry done right requires an initial consultation in which we will discuss your goals, preferences, and options for care. Generally speaking, we may suggest porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, all-white restorations, and/or replacement teeth. After your comprehensive evaluation and consultation, we’ll present a smile makeover plan for your new smile. With digital imaging, you can preview you smile transformation before treatment begins!

Yes. We offer teeth whitening solutions to brighten teeth dramatically at home or in our office. Call for an appointment today!

Cosmetic bonding is a simple, esthetic procedure used to fill gaps in a single office visit. Dr. Naqvi will blend a composite resin material to match the shade of your teeth, then shape and sculpt it, so that it blends seamlessly with your natural smile. A curing lamp hardens the material, creating a super-strong bond. Depending on your smile, Dr. Naqvi may also suggest porcelain veneers. In just two visits, porcelain veneers turn stained, chipped, misaligned, and widely spaced teeth into flawless smiles.

You’ll need to first schedule a consultation with Dr. Naqvi. She can assess your oral health and discuss options for replacement teeth. In general, you can choose from crown and bridgework, partial or full dentures, or dental implants. As the most natural prosthetic to natural tooth structure, a dental implant offers a comfortable, natural looking, easy-to-care-for choice.

Implant restorations are a safe alternative to bridges, partials, or full dentures. They look, feel, and function like natural teeth because of a titanium anchor attached to the jawbone. Once the implants are secured, Dr. Naqvi will attach a handcrafted, permanent crown to each post. The restorations will match your natural teeth and blend seamlessly with your smile. The life of the implant depends on your age, oral status, and personal hygiene. With proper maintenance, they last most people a lifetime.

Most patients are implant candidates; however, an ideal implant patient has good oral health, adequate bone structure, and doesn’t smoke or drink. Dr. Naqvi will evaluate your unique case to determine if implants are right for you.

Missing teeth can lead to a host of other problems, including additional tooth loss. Research shows that if a missing tooth is not replaced, up to 20% of adjacent teeth will fall out in the next 4 to 8 years. Missing teeth also cause remaining teeth to shift, causing spaces between teeth, food impaction, bite collapse, chewing alteration, and TMJ pain. You’re also more susceptible to gum disease, a serious health condition that can significantly shorten your life span.

hese symptoms may indicate a problem. When gums bleed or hurt, the cause usually stems from the patient brushing too hard or from early-stage gum disease, called gingivitis. We can consult with you on the proper toothbrush and pressure for safe, effective daily oral care. If your gums show signs of gum disease, we may recommend a deep hygiene treatment or antibiotic therapy to stop the disease and return your gums to good health. Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss for American adults, and it has been linked to many overall health conditions, including stroke, heart attack, and respiratory problems. Untreated, gum disease can escalate to create significant damage to your health, so call for an assessment now. We will help you keep your teeth and gums healthy for life!

Many people fear dental visits because of negative past experiences or control issues. We understand dental anxiety and offer a solution to help you overcome your stress. With oral conscious sedation and nitrous oxide sedation, we can help you gain full peace of mind and body so that you can receive the dental work you need – and deserve.
